Program Overview

The neurodegeneration associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) may precede symptoms by more than one year. After the onset and detection of these symptoms, accurate diagnosis of mild-to-moderate dementia poses significant challenges for clinicians. Increasing evidence suggests that early diagnosis of AD is important for maximizing the benefits of treatment. New techniques of imaging to detect accumulation of amyloid beta, which is associated with AD pathology, have been developed that allow for earlier diagnosis. In this interactive program, leading experts will review the role of imaging, history and clinical work up in the diagnosis of AD, the appropriate applications for amyloid PET imaging, and current and emerging therapies for managing the disease.
